Therapy for Anxiety, Trauma, & Highly Sensitive People (HSP)
in-person in NYC & online across New York State

Helping women soothe their anxiety, heal from difficult childhoods, & embrace their sensitivity.

You’re struggling to manage your feelings without exploding or shutting down. You’re an overachiever who always tries to do the right thing. Your self-critical voice is always there, saying “you should be better at this”. You wish you could just let go of feeling both “not good enough” and “too much”.

In other words - you’re ready to stop feeling like shit about yourself & finally loosen the knot that’s always in your chest.

You ache for ease and real, lasting change.

A life you actually enjoy is possible - I can help you get there.

If you’ve tried all the positive thinking, meditation, and talking through the same anxiety stories over and over but still don’t feel better….it’s not your fault.

Traditional talk therapy engages the cognitive part of the brain, but anxiety and trauma hang out in the body and nervous system.

That’s why in therapy with me we work with the body, nervous system, and creativity - not just your thoughts.

Creative HSP therapy in NYC & online across NY

HSP therapist in Midtown Manhattan and online across NY.

Hi, I’m Maya (she/her).

I’m a music therapist and psychotherapist in New York.

I specialize in helping women soothe their anxiety, heal from difficult childhoods, and embrace their sensitivity. I know what it’s like to live with the pressure of constant anxiety, being “too sensitive”, and always being the good daughter and the responsible one.

I’m here to tell you that you deserve to be loud, messy, sensitive, and angry - without apologizing for any of it.

What many clients like about me is that I show up as a real person - curse words, loud laughter, and comfy clothes - so you can feel safe to show up too.

Through our work together, you’ll understand and learn to move through difficult feelings, constant self-criticism, and long-held family stories.
You'll learn to soothe your overwhelmed nervous system in simple new ways. I’ll help you reconnect with yourself through creativity, music, and mindfulness so you can live with more confidence and ease.

It’s time to step into a life you actually enjoy - let’s get started today.

I specialize in helping women soothe their anxiety, heal from difficult childhoods, and embrace their sensitivity.

  • Learn to connect to true confidence, understand why your anxiety shows up and how to soothe it, and learn to quiet your stubborn inner critic.

  • Learn to understand all of your feelings, express anger safely, feel joy fully, & figure out who you are outside of the role you’ve been playing in your family for so long .

  • Learn to manage the chronic overwhelm that makes you freeze up or explode, value your sensitivity as a strength, & find balance between self-care and showing up for the things and people you care about.

I accept credit/debit/FSA/HSA cards. I do not bill for services or carry account balances.

I am not an in-network provider and do not accept insurance directly.

If you have out-of-network (OON) mental health insurance benefits, you may be eligible to submit a claim for reimbursement.

You pay me in full at time of service, and at the end of each month I will provide you with a special statement — referred to as a superbill — for you to submit for reimbursement to your insurance provider.

I make no guarantees about the level of reimbursement you will receive from your insurance company.

I suggest you contact your insurance company and research the following:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health or behavioral health coverage?

    • Does my plan reimburse for psychotherapy services provided by a New York State licensed creative arts therapist (LCAT)?

    • Do I need to meet an out-of-network deductible? How much is it?

    • At what rate will I be reimbursed? (if they ask for a CPT code it is 90834)

    • For virtual sessions: Does my plan reimburse for telehealth (video) psychotherapy services? What CPT code modifier is needed (usually 95 or GT)?

    • Is there an annual limit on the number of sessions or the total amount that’s reimbursable?

    • What’s the process for getting reimbursed?

  • The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what’s bringing you in. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance or have a clear way to explain what you’re feeling. Many people come in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, self-critical, or simply unsure where to start - and we’ll begin right there.

We’ll talk about what’s been going on for you recently. I may ask some questions about your history or patterns in how you experience stress, emotions, or relationships, but there’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready.

My approach is relational and attuned to your pace. Alongside talking, we may also gently notice what’s happening internally in the moment - emotionally or in your body. We might also begin to explore creative or music-based ways of working, though this is always optional and never required.

A first session is not about “figuring everything out.” It’s about getting a felt sense of whether this space feels supportive, and beginning to understand what kind of work might be helpful for you.

By the end of the session, we’ll usually have a sense of what working together could look like and whether it feels like a good fit to continue.

  • I believe in laughing loudly and that cursing is always okay. I bring lots of curiosity and compassion to our sessions. Your sense of safety and comfort are my priority.

Sessions will include talking as well as nervous system work & simple creative techniques like musical improvisation, music & imagery or listening to recorded music.

Music is a valuable tool we'll use in our sessions as a way to help you understand yourself, your feelings, and your relationships in a deeper way.

  • Not at all!

You don’t need any musical skills to benefit from working with me.

My clients often come to me because music is a source of joy or connection for them, and they’re curious about a more creative and embodied approach to therapy.

Music is a tool in the therapy process that can help you explore and understand your feelings, thoughts, and relationships in a richer way. This might mean that we listen to some of your music, explore rhythm together as a symbol for relationships or patterns, or use simple vocal sounds like humming to calm your nervous system.
